To Take Part in Existence (2021) is an on-going project consisting entirely of film photography with some experimental darkroom processes. It is the product of time spent forest bathing as a cathartic practice. The work explores the natural forest landscape from an up-close perspective, invoking the sense of an intimate relationship with the natural earth. By capturing minuscule details of the landscape as opposed to the whole scene, the experience of forest bathing is depicted. The photographs were taken while practicing long interrupted periods of time to observe my surroundings closely and intently, to appreciate and to feel at one with the natural earth. The experimental darkroom processes used to create the work were also in themselves cathartic practices.
