To Take Part in Existence (2021) is the product of time spent forest bathing as a cathartic practice. I would spend time in nature to cope with a sense of dissociation, following very sudden and traumatic changes to most aspects of my life in March 2020 as a result of Covid-19. I observed my surroundings intently, and photographed up-close the little pieces of nature that consumed my attention. I grew emotionally attached to the land and its little details; it became my friend and confidant, and I found an additional therapeutic practice in spending time experimenting with my photographs of it in the darkroom. Every piece of this project was a labour of catharsis. It pays homage to the natural land in my local area that kept me grounded in a time of turbulence.
